Position: Local part-time Photo/Video Content Producer

Approximately 5-8 hours per week, seasonally March - November

Role Summary

The Local Photo/Video Content Producer will help The Gardener’s Workshop capture high-quality, useful photo and video content from the farm, office, warehouse, products, and team. This person will support TGW’s marketing, education, social media, YouTube, email, and website content by documenting what is happening in real time.

This is a practical, hands-on content capture role. The ideal person is comfortable working early mornings on location, taking direction, noticing useful visual moments, and organizing files clearly.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Visit the farm/office (located in Newport News, VA) on a weekly schedule to capture photo and video
  • Film short clips of flowers, crops, tools, products, harvesting, planting, packaging, and behind-the-scenes work
  • Capture simple vertical videos for social/app use
  • Capture horizontal footage when needed for YouTube or longer-form projects
  • Take product and lifestyle photos
  • Record short team explanations or demonstrations when requested
  • Follow seasonal shot lists
  • Upload, label, and organize files promptly (before the next week's shoot)
  • Help build a searchable content library
  • Communicate what was captured after each shoot

Equipment: Candidates should have regular access to a reliable photo/video capture device they are comfortable using, such as a smartphone with a high-quality camera or a digital camera. TGW can provide additional equipment or accessories for specific projects as needed. Candidates are not expected to purchase equipment for this role.

Pay: $18-20/hour, depending on experience and portfolio. 

Schedule: Approximately 4 hours per week (5:30 am-9:30 am) on-site in Newport News, with up to 4 additional remote hours for uploading, organizing, labeling, and light content prep. All hours must be logged and approved. The main season for this position is March - November, with potentially some light work available Jan-Feb (off in December).

Position: Seed Packer (Part-Time)

Purpose: A Seed Packer is responsible for accurately counting and packaging seeds.  They also assess stock for damage and keep precise records of seed inventory. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Accurately count & pack seeds, improving speed over time.
  2. Maintain accurate records.
  3. Communicate with the Seed Manager and team.
  4. Inspect stock for damage and keep accurate records of damages.
  5. Keep seed packs organized and return them to the Seed Manager in an organized, timely manner.
  6. Keep bulk seed and seed packs in proper environments (not to be left in hot/cold environments such as cars).
  7. Fully complete weekly seed packing list, and pick up/return to fulfillment center weekly
  8. Contribute ideas on ways to optimize seed packaging procedures.
  9. Abide by all hygiene and safety regulations.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  1. Team player, open to help where needed.
  2. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  3. Fully complete weekly seed packing duties and return to the fulfillment center on assigned date.
  4. Attention to detail and ability to accurately count seeds for extended time periods.
  5. Physical stamina and manual dexterity.
  6. Problem solver and self-starter.
  7. Follow seed packing policies and procedures.
  8. Lifting up to 30 lbs.
  9. Sitting and counting seeds for extended time periods.

Work Hours:

  • Part time (maximum 15 hours per week)
  • At home seed packing hours, self paced
  • Pick up/drop off weekly at fulfillment center
  • Fulfillment center hours are 8 AM - 4 PM, Monday - Thursday

Position: Fulfillment Center Associate (Part-Time)

A Warehouse Associate is responsible for accurately counting and packaging seeds, processing, packaging, and shipping orders accurately, and receiving, processing and preparing incoming stock.

Hours: Monday-Wednesday, 8 AM-4 PM (with a potential to add more days/hours during peak season)

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately count or weigh seeds, and package them efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of packaged and bulk seeds.
  • Assist in printing and preparing seed envelopes.
  • Receive, process, label, and store incoming stock.
  • Count stock and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Inspect stock for damage and document any issues.
  • Keep the warehouse organized and clean.
  • Process, package, and ship orders accurately.
  • Suggest ideas to improve warehouse procedures.
  • Follow all hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to see, work with, and count extremely small seeds.
  • Accuracy in counting and excellent fine motor skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with packaging, shipping, and/or receiving.
  • Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Previous warehouse experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment will be considered an advantage.

Position: Customer Care Specialist (Part-Time)

This new position is responsible for providing a welcoming experience to customers and guests via the phone, online, and in person.  A friendly, bubbly personality will assist our customers through excellent customer service and will support our team through special projects.

This position is for 30-32 hours per week at our warehouse office.  

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phone calls
  • Take customer orders over the phone
  • Monitor and answer customer questions via phone, email, social media, etc.
  • Monitor social media; assist with social media marketing
  • Answer customer service emails daily (after business hours as needed) 
  • Support leadership team with special projects as assigned
  • Abide by all hygiene and safety regulations 

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Tech Savvy; Interested in learning new software & systems
  • Welcoming personality
  • Team player
  • Excellent time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Previous experience in customer service will be considered an advantage
