Pepper, Rooster – 25 Seeds

Pepper, Rooster, Capsicum annuum, 25 seeds avg.

Heirloom pepper that has been passed down from grower to grower for decades. Highly sought after by cut-flower growers, as peppers rise above the foliage, making it quick and easy to strip stems. Especially useful as a fresh cut in the green and red stages and as a dried ornamental for wreaths. Open-pollinated.

Planting Tips:

  • A warm-season crop that prefers full sun.
  • Plant outdoors after danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed.
  • Transplanting is recommended.
  • Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before planting date.
  • Sow seeds ¼” deep and cover with soil.
  • Allow 7-21 days to germinate.
  • Space plants 12-18” apart in rows 24-36” apart.
  • Once established in the garden, pinch to four leaves to establish a more robust, branching plant.
  • Support netting is recommended, as plants fruit heavily.
  • 90-100 days to maturity from transplant date.

Harvesting Tips:

  • Harvest any time from when peppers are green to red (ripe).
