Growing flowers has become my heartsong. I love your book - I confess, I've read it twice! And looked up information to be sure I remembered it correctly. It's finally time to start putting my seedlings in the flower garden my boyfriend created for me and I got 5 of his raised beds planted yesterday. First time soil blocking. I loved it. It was easy, just follow Lisa’s directions. I started lettuce on these adorable small trays.

Great guide with simple information and instructions
I find it really irritating that there isn’t more information for people that grow in zone 5 or colder. If you are going to sell a book and claim to be an expert on cool flowers, you could at least partner with a farmer in colder zones so that you know what you are talking about. You can’t plant 6-8 weeks before your last frost date unless you have some serious protection like a hoop house\high tunnel. Even then, the soil temperature has to be high enough to actually generate enough heat to make tunnels effective. It would be more informative to discuss what the best temperatures are, how the forecast will be looking, etc. What a waste of money.

It’s a pretty nice book, pretty basic though, not very many directions or extra tips on growing these for your zone. Very minimal directions for each plant.

You'll laugh about this note. I did not get around to reviewing Cool Colors Book until Christmas 2024 afternoon waiting for company. I had a cup of coffee enjoying life. Last year I also ordered a small seed blocker kit. I haven't used that yet. Will do that soon. I read lots of ideas and how to raise flowers in "Cool Flowers". Great thoughts and how-tos. Many thanks for the book and all your classes on the internet. I'm impressed with the pictures of your gardens and flowers. Thank you. Don't you ever get tired?
