- Mix 3 parts sifted blocking mix to 1 part water for soil blocks
Fort Vee is a compost-based potting mix that is excellent for seed starting in soil blocks. This living soil holds its shape after being blocked, even through repeat waterings.

Storage and Shelf Life
Store in a neutral environment which encourages moisture retention and protects from UV light. For optimal performance of living soil, we suggest using it within 6-9 months from the date of purchase, although it may perform adequately for up to 12 months.

I’m still amazed at how many small blocks you get out of the one bag. I’ve started 1255 seeds with just two bags.
This was the first time I had purchased this product. I could tell right away that it was very high quality. My snapdragons are already beginning to germinate in this soil mix. I'll be buying more soon!
I just started my first soil blocks on Dec 29th. I really think I will love this method of seed starting. It’s so clean. And easy. The space saving ! I love it. Last year I started about a 1,000 seeds and I ran out of space. Last week I started a little over 500 seeds and haven’t had to bring in more shelves yet.

My calendar is a mess. Was not able to start seeds on time so made a couple of 2" blocks and put in cuttings. They are doing well. I was impressed with how well the blocks are holding their shape. Looking forward to trying it with seeds.
This last bag had lots of little pebbles and other chunks in it so it made it a pain to soil block with it.

We use fort vee for all of our soil blocking. Holds up well and the flowers love it!

The composition of the soil mix is perfect for blocking. My seedlings are thriving. I will definitely purchase this again.
Very rough for soil blocks. Filled a quart jar with rocks, sticks and debris from sifting but still have long coir fibers and debris that made it through. Blocks are not high quality. Not nearly as fine as the mix previously branded and sold by TGW. Used quarter of one bag and wish I hadn’t bought two.
