All Things Swift Blocking
Swift blocking is a seed starting method that allows farmers and growers an efficient and fast way to start a large amount of seeds with a footprint of just 4.5″ x 14″.
We find seedlings grown in soil blocks are:
- Healthier
- Higher rate of germination
- Grow quicker
- Hit the ground running
- Suffer no transplant shock

The Swift Blocker Mini 75 allows farmers and growers an efficient and fast way to start seeds using soil blocks. With one load, it produces 75 blocks that push out with a footprint of just 4.5″ x 14″. One set of Mini 75 blocks fits perfectly on our reusable plastic trays or two sets fit on a cafeteria tray. We find seedlings grown in soil blocks are healthier, grow quicker, generally hit the ground running, and suffer no transplant shock.

I LOVE using the Scraper to compress the soil and then scrape away the excess. Also use it to scoop out the next addition of soil. The Scraper’s dibble holes haven’t caught my attention too much yet, but overall the Scraper is way better than the butter knife I’d use with my hand-held soil blocker! SUPER sturdy.
I love it. HUGE time saver, especially if you’ve sifted your peat moss before blocking. I felt giddy using my Swift Blocker, both the first session and second. 😀 And I can’t imagine it not lasting FOREVER. I love that this will inevitably get passed on after I’m long gone (and I’m only in my early 40’s, but that’s how well-made it is, it makes you respect its construction for sure.) I didn’t buy the narrow tray to accompany it – using lunch trays instead which are a wink too short but work just the same My first seeds have already germinated so the Swift Blocker + Lisa’s tried and true soil blocking recipe are a win! Thank you!
