Mexican Sunflower ‘Red Torch’, Tithonia rotundifolia, 100 seeds avg.
Deep, rich orange 3” blooms add a pop of color in the landscape and in bouquets. A favorite of butterflies and hummingbirds.
Planting Tips:
- A warm-season tender annual that prefers full sun.
- Plant outdoors after danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed.
- Start seeds indoors 4 weeks before planting date or cast seeds directly in the garden.
- Cover seeds with soil. Allow 5-10 days to germinate.
- Space plants 12-24” apart in the garden.
- Grows to 48-72” tall.
- 100-120 days to bloom.
Harvesting Tips:
- Harvest just as the blooms begin to open.
- Flowers will continue to open indoors free from pests and the drying sun.
- Make the first cut of the central stem (if not pinched out earlier) just above the lowest three to four side shoots.
- Make future cuts at the stem base.

I grew these last year they are beautiful! They were over 8 foot tall the monarch butterflies and hummingbirds love them! I did not have much luck with them for a cut flower, but definitely an amazing plant! Very vibrant color and velvet to the touch!
