Sunflower ‘Lemonade’, Helianthus annuus, 50 & 200 seeds avg.
A branching sunflower with fully double 5-7” blooms. Bright lemon-yellow petals with light yellow-green disks. Minimal pollen.
Planting Tips:
- A warm-season tender annual that prefers full sun.
- Plant outdoors after danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed.
- Start seeds indoors 2-3 weeks before planting date or cast seeds directly in the garden.
- Cover seeds with soil.
- Allow 5-10 days to germinate.
- Space plants 12-18” apart in the garden.
- Grows to 60-72” tall.
- Pinch when 12" tall to establish a more robust, branching plant.
- 85-95 days to bloom.
Harvesting Tips:
- Harvest just as the blooms begin to crack open.
- They will continue to open indoors free from pests and the drying sun.
- Make the cut at the base of the stem.

Wow!! This just made my top five list for cut sunflowers. I wish we could leave photos on the review. My best selling sunflower at market is Double Sunking and this has the exact same qualities but in a gorgeous pale yellow.
Just stunning, very strong upward facing heads which is super important for cutting but even more so for the heavier headed varieties.
I am in Yelm, WA, this has taken about 100 days to start maturing for me. ProCuts take about 75-ish days here, so yes Lemonade is a month longer BUT you can get many blooms off of one plant so if you have the space it is more than worth it. I left some unpinched and spaced closer to 6″ apart they grew a perfect single bloom so you don’t have to grow it as a brancher.
