Fall Gardening

by | Sep 19, 2008

This has become my favorite time of year; it is time for fresh starts. I have already started my most favorite hardy annual–snapdragons, one of our biggest early summer cash crops. I will be starting many other seeds and begin direct seeding in the garden in October after we clear the garden of the summer blooming annuals.

This year I am not faced with having to pull out still highly productive plants as in most years to plant the fall planted spring blooming garden. That little wind storm we had last week did lots of damage to the garden that has been our biggest producer. So that is the garden that I am going to clear.

We are gearing up for shows and lectures- checkout the events calendar to see if we are coming near you. I most recently have spoken to a couple of local Rotary Clubs. Just goes to show you never know where you are going to find gardeners hiding!

On another note–my blue birds are back! They appeared yesterday while harvesting.

Happy Fall!
